- Tip up the lid ( the part of the machine where the switches are located). Wipe a rag across the screen on the vacuum motor. (Click for illustration)
- Look at the blue and clear floor tool end that rubs on the carpet. Make certain the slit in the blue part is down so it rubs on the carpet. Rotate the floor tool end until it sits properly against the carpet. (Click for illustration)
- Remove the light blue vacuum hose at the end connected to the bucket in the machine. Place your hand on the gray pipe protruding from the bucket and turn on the vacuum. Make sure the lid sits firmly on the bucket. There should be suction against your hand. Check the other end of the vacuum hose in the same manner.

General Operating Instructions
CAUTION: DO NOT use boiling water, dyes, bleaches, powdered detergents or products other than nautavac brand in the machine.
PREPARATION
Vacuum the area to be cleaned with your household vacuum cleaner.
Lift the lid on the machine and wipe the vacuum screen before each use. (Click for illustration)
Pre-treat any heavily soiled areas with nautavac Prespotter.
Fill the solution tank (Tank "A") with hottest tap water available. DO NOT USE BOILING WATER as damage to your carpet and to the machine may occur. Always use a clean bucket or pail to fill the solution tank (Tank "A"), do not use the recovery bucket.
Add nautavac Stain Resistant Cleaner, Odor Control Cleaner or Upholstery Cleaner to the solution tank (Tank "A") at the rate described on the bottle.
Add nautavac Defoamer to the recovery tank at the rate described on the bottle.
Attach one end of the vacuum hose to the floor wand and the other end to the gray tube protruding from the recovery bucket.
Attach the dark blue solution hose to the floor wand. (Click for illustration)
Plug electrical cord into grounded wall outlet.
CLEANING
Turn on the vacuum switch and pump switch located on the lid.
Start by reaching out the floor wand a comfortable distance from your body, placing the floor tool perpendicular to the carpet. (Click for illustration)
Squeeze the trigger/lever and hold it down while you slowly and steadily pull the floor wand back toward you. Go back over the same area until no more dirty water is seen through the floor tool end. For faster drying time and more recovery of water, vacuum the same area without dispensing any cleaning solution. Continue cleaning by slightly overlapping each previously cleaned area. There is no need to apply heavy pressure to the floor wand, the machine does the work!
When the solution in Tank "A" becomes low, (it is best to prevent it from pumping completely empty), turn off both switches. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the recovery bucket and lift the lid on the machine. Remove the recovery bucket and discard the dirty water. Replace the recovery bucket (remembering to add Defoamer) and reattach the vacuum hose.
Refill the solution tank (Tank "A") and continue cleaning.
CLEANUP
Turn off the pump and raise the wand overhead. Press the trigger/lever until all the water drains from the white hose on the floor wand.
Remove the vacuum hose from the floor wand and vacuum any unused cleaning solution from the solution tank (Tank "A").
Turn off the vacuum switch.
Remove the vacuum hose from the gray tube protruding from the recovery tank. Then lift the lid and remove the recovery bucket. Discard the dirty water.
Wipe any hair and lint off the vacuum screen (Click for illustration) and any dirty water residue from the outside of the machine.
Coil the vacuum hose and place it in the solution tank (Tank "A").
You are now ready to return your machine. Thank you for renting nautavac's Powerful Little Blue Machine.
